The Latch-Key Problem:
Statistics
tell us that about 60% of our students K-12 are home alone
after school each day. This is the time many children go
astray with little or no supervision. It is a true saying,
“A child who has no place to go, will end up going no where
in life.” This is why we have formed Campus. We have a
place for your youth to after school, where they will be
helped with their school work, where they will be challenged
to learn and be inspired to greatness!
A Solution:
Campus is
a non-profit corporation in the State of Washington formed
by concerned parents, educators, and pastors to provide a
comprehensive off-site, after school program, which
cooperates with parents and school to provide home work
assistance, life coaching, and challenging school of the
arts electives.
Our Staff:
Our staff is made up of a combination of professionals and
volunteers who are highly skilled in their area of
expertise.
Our Mission:
“We exist
to provide a safe and inspirational environment to help our
youth exceed in school and in life.”
Our Schedule:
This is
our pilot program so we are starting with two days per week;
Mondays and Wednesdays after school. We start January 7,
and continue until school is out in June. Our plan is to
launch a full Monday through Friday schedule in the fall of
2008.
Who Can Attend CAMPUS?
We are
receiving 5th through 12th grades at
this time. We plan to open it up to grades 1-12 with a full
5 day per week program in the fall of 2008.
There is limited space so it will be first come, first
serve. We will have a waiting list if you are too late to
register this year.
Our Program:
-
Nutrition
– Upon arrival your student will be received and greeted
by our positive and loving staff members who will usher
them to the dining area where they will be given a
healthy nutritional snack. Our food prep staff is ready
to accommodate any special nutrition or medication needs
your child has.
-
Study Hall / Tutoring
– After the snack time, your student will be helped with
homework in our computer lab / study hall. Tutoring is
available for all. Our teaching and tutoring staff will
communicate with you and your student’s school teachers
to insure homework assignments are done on time.
-
Electives –
After
all homework assignments are complete, your student will
be able to choose an elective class. In some cases,
students may receive class credits for these electives
from their school. Classes will be available based on a
minimum number of students who sign up for that
particular class. See a list of the electives offered
below.
-
Life Coaching
– One
day per week there will be a guest motivational speaker
who will inspire your young person to greatness in
character and achievement.
